I'll be fishing Area 6, Oct 2-11. I'm open to suggestions and company. Any kayakers frequent this area? I usually put in at Freshwater Bay, but have tried Pillar, Sekiu and Sequim. Close to shore and also the channel. Can't wait.

I'm here, finally. Found this silver near the shipping lanes.

Great job DK.   I love FWB, but I had heard the coho traveled waaayy  out in the shipping lanes - you must have had quite a paddle/pedal

You got that right! It turned into a 15 mile paddle. I'm finding them in 350' of water 60' deep. Tried again today, but spent the day grayed out, following a little needle on my gps. No fish  :(.  I'm here for the week so will keep going out far. Unless anyone has some close in ideas that isn't too far away. It's hard, but I'm loving it!

Reading the creel reports, you picked a great time and location... looks like the coho are invading PA.

PB coming in from the Rockpile kept 2 10 pounders and released 28! 7 miles out is too far for me and fog has been a risk all week. I fished the Humps yesterday, but the coho are out farther. Attempted a 12 mile one way with the current today from Port Angeles to FWB, but the fog is too risky-abort. I may reverse that plan and ride the flood tide in from FWB to PA this afternoon. A chance of rain is better than 200 ft visibility. I can navigate fine, but worry about getting run over!

Is it proper NWKA etiquette to reply to your own posts? Oh well, here it is. I wound up waiting for the fog to break, reversed my route plan and kayaked from west to east with the incoming current. 12 miles and I had to be out by 6pm before the current turned again. This trip, I learned that it takes hours for the current to turn in the Strait after a tide change. After hearing of a couple of kings caught in shallow water today at FWB, I fooled around near shore for awhile and lost some time. No luck, so I set out to the deep about 3 miles off shore always looking at he gps, boat speed, and estimating my take out time. I'm on a schedule, now. In order to get deep enough, I had to arc out further in the channel, which lengthens the route. About half way, I am committed; there is no takeout point in the middle, only Indian reservation. Paddling across the Humps (which I hear is great summer fishing), I was too nervous about my take out time to swing far enough out and spent most of my troll at 120 feet (not where the Silvers are). The water and sky were unbelievable, rain clouds drifting in and out was a pleasant change from the fog of the past few days. At one point, I was paddling with the current and rolling swells giving the water surface oscillating waves as I cruised easily at 4mph-an amazing feeling. A little behind on my plan, I kicked in a higher gear and eventually, pulled my rig to cut any drag. Dropped in a Sonic Bait Fish with no weight for luck and rowed like a machine for my waypoint. Took out at 6:15 and would have stayed longer, but wanted to get home before my 2 year old grandchild's bedtime. Great kayak outing! Not one bite. I may be a better kayaker than fisherman! I'll be back again.
