Great thanks for the update & we will be watching & rooting for our home team. I was curious as to what his rig would look like & if he smuggled in some of his homemade Secret Cinnamon Scent with him!

Here's a picture of Team USA with our own Scott Brenneman pictured second in from the right. Today was practice day in Amsterdam with really rough weather. Tomorrow is supposed to improve. Good luck to Scott tomorrow on day 1 at the Hobie World championship.

Those conditions will play to Scott's strengths.  I feel for all the competitors from calm temperate regions.  :)

Here's a photo of Scott using a PNW secret weapon...

blue nitrile gloves

As an OK Pro-staffer, I really think he should insist on paddling that thing. ::)

Looks like Scott had a rough day out there today.

I wonder if his OK status has something to do with where he is listed?

Looks like Scott had a rough day out there today.

I know he was planning to focus on big Pike.  Hopefully that pays off on the second day!

I'm going to do a bit of arm chair coaching here...

What is Scott doing casting lures?  He does not look comfortable casting that big swim bait.

He should play to his strengths.... trolling.   Catch a little perch and drag that sucker around.  Pike will hitch hike just like a ling.   Drag a herring around behind a flasher.   Drag a large plug around.

Nevermind, I just read the rules... Scott is screwed...

Quote
FISHING METHODS

Cast-and-retrieve only – no trolling, no live baits, no dead baits.
Only artificial lures and flies may be used during competition.
Drift fishing is allowed. Anglers may drift up to 50 meters between casts. Once an angler has drifted 50 meters, the angler must retrieve the lure and recast.
Commercially sold scents may be added and used.
Only ONE rod, either a casting, spin casting, spinning rod and reel or fly rod may be used at any one time.
A maximum of 2 rigged rods per angler are allowed, spare rods can be brought along but only unrigged due to local regulations.
All anglers must have at least one hook cutter and proper unhooking tools must be available.
The use of fish grips at any time is not allowed.
ALL fish must be caught in a conventional sporting manner. A cast must be fully retrieved before an angler may select another rod.
Anglers may not catch or measure fish that have been caged or confined in an area prior to the tournament.
ALL fish must be caught from the provided Hobie kayak. If the angler is out of the kayak for any reason between casting and landing of the fish, the catch will not be permitted.
During the hours of competition, contestants may not obtain or receive assistance, including but not limited to the following: a non-competitor’s boat; the placing of markers by a non-competitor; being towed by or riding on motorized vessels; or receiving electronic, voice or data communication from a non-competitor.

Maybe he should try some steelhead tactics like bobber and jig.

Seriously, catch a perch already and get on the board.

At least an American is currently on top of the leaderboard.

He should be trolling one of these.  I always catch pike one them.

I had three in my go bag for Amsterdam.  Unfortunately, I didn't make it past the ORC. Also, Lings like these things too.
