My name is Charlie and live in NE Portland.  Own a Jackson "Big Tuna" primarily cause I can stand up and flycast as well as having the ability to take my 10 year old out with me for a good old dad-son time.  I am extremely green to kayak fishing, 42 years old and beginning to hate fun with sparkplugs....luckily stumbled into NWKA while watching videos on u-tube of some of you folks having fun, and was totally inspired.  There are some pretty awesome people around here with total respect of what nature has to offer.  There might be hope for us after all...
Anyways, love to try all forms of kayak fishing, but I tend to drool at the thought of salt water kayak fishing...I'm starting to realize that the "Big Tuna" might not be the best choice for such an endeavour, or is it?  Any feedback is greatly appreciated, and thank you for allowing me to be a part of this....

Welcome to the affliction...or affection...whatever you want to call it!  THere's a lot of great information on this forum and lots of folks willing to share.  Check out the safety gear recommendations and discussions about handling a kayak in surf.  Oregon has some salty bays that the Big Tuna would do just fine, and even on some very calm days you could paddle out for some rockfishing - just do it safely and be prepared.  Know your boat and know your limits as you build experience.  Have Fun....looking forward to seeing some of YOUR videos and fishy reports.

The Boss and I are new to kayak fishing, too.  This is the place to learn everything you can think of.

Welcome aboard!
