Took advantage of a really nice ocean on Friday.  Launched around 8:00 AM and trolled south looking for a last chinook in the ocean for the season.  Tried some stuff I've been wanting to use, some spoons, an apex.  Finally switched over to herring. I went through 5 of the 6 herring I took with me.  Had a few hits.  Last herring I switched over to the helmet to get some mileage out of my last bait.  Finally a really strong takedown that stuck right as Eagle charters was passing just to the inside of me.  A few really fun peeling runs and finally in the net.  Think I paddled close to 10 miles to get this fish but so worth it.

Tried my luck in the bay on Saturday with no luck.  Fish were rolling everywhere, just not many biters.  It was a little scary with all the waterfowl hunters shooting so close by.  Seems like the Nestucca is a good option for anyone looking for a salmon though.

Very nice.  Salmon are on my list to get after also.  Would be nice to learn that area better.  Right on -

Nice.  I have always wanted to try going south there.  If you want a good seaweed salad to go with it, troll Tillamook Bay.

Awesome!  Is your yak an Ocean Kayak?  Thought I saw a "rod pod" in the picture.  I'm curious about how your yak is set up with rod holders, etc.

Great fish. It's nice when they end up in the net when you have an audience watching. Conversely, when they come unbuttoned and there are people watching I always try to keep my cool. Biting your tongue is never easy in those situations.
