Remember that I'm in the sticks: a full days' drive away from a outfitter's shop.

I'm after a dry suit.  The measurements of a large (L) sized Kokatat would be almost tailored to fit me except for the socks/booties.

Depends on who makes the shoes, but I'm an 11 in some, a 12 in others, and there's a pair of 12.5's somewhere in the closet.

The medium-sized socks on a (L) dry suit are for shoe sizes 10 to 12.  Kokatat will sew on large-size socks, for shoe sizes 12-15 for free, so I can solve my problem of having clown feet on stumpy legs.

Since I'm on the edge between the two sock sizes, I have to keep asking myself which is worse?  Cramped piggy toes or yards of extra sock wadded-up in my boots?

Before I order them and find that I have three inches of empty sock, I thought I'd ask a personal question:

For those who own Kokatat dry suits, what size shoe do you wear, what size socks are on your dry suit, and how do the socks fit?

I'm 6'2", size 11.5 shoe. I have an extra large Kokatat Gore-Tex suit and have at least 1-2" of "extra" sock. I'd rather have a better fit, but the extra sock isn't an issue as long as my foot's all the way forward leaving the extra material back behind my heel.  I wear size 13 neoprene scuba boots with the suit and it works great.

Thanks!  That's the information I was hoping-for!

I wish Kokatat could add one more sock size, covering shoes sized from 11-13, but that's just puddles in my palm.

I am 6' 175 and have a L Supernova Angler, it fits perfect, plenty of room for layers under but suit is not baggy with light stuff under.  I agree with Kokatat sizing that L would fit someone slightly taller, 6'2", the sleeves on me are just a bit long and overall length, top to bottom, just fine also

I wear 10.5 or 11 in most shoes/boots.  the M socks on the suit are large on my feet even with thick super warm socks on my feet, plenty of extra room all around, I wear an oversize (12) pair of aquasocks over the dry suit socks and the extra material fits easily in them.

the socks on the dry suit are, IMO, intended to fit loosely with excess material all around, they are not like the more fitted neoprene socks on many waders.

my guess is that someone 6'2" with 11 feet would find the length from neck gasket to tip of the socks just right, toes touching the end of the socks.  in my case, I find my toes to be an inch or 2 back from the sock end.

cheers, roger

I'm 6'1", 165 lbs and the L supernova suit is a really nice fit. I wear a size 11 shoe and like to wear thick socks and always feel like I have plenty of room in the feet. I dislike having too large of a drysuit as I feel it's just extra material to snag on hooks and other sharp objects.

Thank you, Roger, and thank you, Noah.

I purchased waders, once, based on bootie size instead of my size and had the baggiest and most oversized "pants" imaginable, and the booties were almost big enough to put both feet in one bootie.

I definitely appreciate your comments.  I, too, would wear at least one pair of heavy socks and probably a pair of liner socks, so it appears to me that the large suit with the larger socks is the right way to go.

And if it's not, I'm taking the blame.  I mean, I could drag myself off the couch long enough to drive to a store and try them on... and maybe go fishing, too.

Thank you.
