dam was opened a little Monday morning, burp of coho came into the lake.  with serious weather moving in, my wife and I got out quick in the PB but we will be out next week in our Oasis for sure and I will have some great pictures of me netting coho for her.  as for today, I did manage to tag this little guy, a shiny 33" buck.

with several inches of rain predicted the rest of this week, it looks like the next couple of weeks should provide some really nice coho fishing in Siltcoos...cheers, roger

Darn nice fish! Lots of rain forecast this week so hopefully the dam will be opened again. I'll be out there as soon as the weather settles down!

Thanks for the catching update, Roger.  Nice Fishy!  Sounds like fun to go out in the Tandem, take some good videos and pics of you and your wife catching coho.  Hope to see you out there.

Given the break in the wind and rain, I hit Siltcoos this morning. Not much to report though. One guy said some fish were rolling earlier, but he didn't catch anything. I didn't see a fish and didn't ever catch a perch. I think the dam needs to be opened again!

more fish in the lake today, tough bite but my friend had one on briefly and a few chased his spinner but nothing netted.   he also found fish up the Fiddle Creek arm.  I expect fishing in Siltcoos to improve steady over the next couple weeks, Rachelle and I are planning to fish Tuesday from our Oasis so I'll update what we observe/catch for sure...cheers, roger

Thanks for the photo, Roger.  Jealous, I am.
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

I fished near the outlet today. There were some fish rolling but I didnt get a bite. Saw one huge fish surface right next to me. I caught a 34 incher on the coos last week and this one looked quite a bit bigger.
Talked to a guy at the ramp who fished the Maple arm. He had 2 30+ inchers in the box and released 3 others and lost a monster in about 3 hours of fishing. Also said he saw some really big fish caught. Sounds like the Maple arm is the place to be.

I was also very surprised to see seals in the lake. Just doesnt seem right.

Fished Siltcoos this morning south from the outlet. Saw 3 nice, bright, coho caught by guys throwing spinners. Totally beautiful day on the lake! The parking lot at Westlake was FULL when I got there at 9:30. Saw a couple of fish roll, but only managed to catch a trout! Water temp was down from last week. Gave it a good shot but Nada!

Fiddle Creek arm was hot at sunrise Monday, my friends were back with 2 adults and 1 jack by 9am.  very busy at the launch!

strong winds (20mph with 30mph gusts) predicted Tuesday from sunrise to sunset, so be careful.  light winds predicted the rest of the week!

Is the spinner the primary method to catch Siltcoos Coho?  Blue Fox type as cast/retrieve or is there something that is a trolling spinner that works well?  Thanks for the reports!!

Blue Fox #4 and #5 are common, my friends yesterday got one adult coho on a blue and the other on a pink.

Local NCL&F guys spinners are super popular here, his pink-bell-hotchie and orange strike master are probably the top producers.

BiMart is selling Worden's Vibric Rooster Tails 1/2oz in pink and blue, usually hiding at the bottom of the big 'normal' rooster tail display, I got my 33" fish on the pink version.  these are an inline spinner with body weight offset from center and bare treble hook.  The pink one is the best I have found for SRC.
