You can keep three fish at the mouth of Klick as long as one is a nook.

That's right.

You can catch and keep her if you like.  She wasn't for me.

Strong bite continues with some real aggressive fights. 17 degrees & froze my balls off making two passes, two hookups, too cold. One 16# hatchery bright & released a monster native that took 5+ passes to get into the net & left me with a shoulder ache. Now I'm off to soak in the hot springs!

Nice FEESH! A bit further north we found coho this weekend on the Cowlitz. About 18 degrees at the start, but we thawed a bit in the sun during mid-day. Lots of ice in the shade but that's not slowing down the bite.

I love this season change, it separates the goats from the sheep imo.

Excellent work guys!
I haven't caught a December Coho in 25 years.  I'm  going to give it a good try this year.  It looks like the weather is going to warm a bunch late this week.

Sunday was awesome (aside from the wind and cold) too. Same results that others have been reporting. It looks like I'll be out there again tomorrow. I'll probably wait for plenty of daylight before getting on the water. I'll need to be heading back home before the freezing rain though. Let me know if anyone wants to join me!

Did you guys need to defrost them to clean them?
I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

It was still awesome today.  The weather was better than last weekend, but not by much.  Wind kicked up a couple of times and made it pretty miserable for a little while, but there were times when it was calm and fairly nice.  I caught about a dozen fish in about four hours and had at least a bite almost every pass.  Some were dusky, some had just a hint of color.  I also caught and released a nice native steelhead - probably about 15 lbs. The bite was hot from about 10 until about noon, then it died down a little for me.  The eggs from these females were really nice!

If you do head up there Sunday take gear to hover eggs in the canyon out of the wind rather than troll. My experience has been that if the forecast is for little wind at Lyle then it will be tolerable with occasional gusty periods. If the forecast calls for 30+ mph winds it will suck. When the westerly winds get howling in there its brutal but at least they blow you back to the ramp.

Finally made it out there this morning.  Amazing how aggro these fish are.  Super glassy out there, tomorrow looks good as well.

i just used a plain blue fox spinner w flasher and limited out in about 45 minutes. Started releasing fish in hopes of a somewhat bright nook, but stopped after a few more coho.

Thanks to all the gorge area yakkers for posting the intel for this great fishery.  So fun!
