I am new to kayaking but not to fishing. I am a fly fisherman and fish mostly lakes. I have several friends that have kayaks and plan on joining them fishing in both fresh and salt water.

Welcome.  What lakes do you like to fish?

Fly fishing out of kayaks has a lot of advantages over float tubes and pontoons.  You're going to love it.

Welcome aboard! Where about? I'm in Lacey. There's a ton of lakes dotting the greater south sound landscape. A few outstanding fly fishing lakes as well. Fly fishing from a kayak can be outstanding!! I personally like to be able to stand for fly casting, but I've found the growing craze of lawn chair style seating make it far easier as well. If you have a Hobie I recommend a stripping basket if you don't have one already. Piles of fly line have a great way of getting into the Mirage Drive!
