Probly get away with it every time... except that one time. A pretty good way to go out I suppose.

My guess is the injured guy would've been pissed had his friend grabbed his hand, and not his unattended rod, first.

Before I had a kayak I used to paddle my surfboard out to various inaccessible headlands and rocks to fish for lingcod and rockfish.  Lots of fun but not very efficient.  I think the fun factor would be exponentially greater if I'd been throwing poppers to tuna!
