Howdy. I just picked up an '06 Hobie Adventure. To the best of my knowledge and after serious inspection it does not appear to have any cracks around the drivewell/cam columns or other known trouble areas.

I know that Hobie used to send out "Mirage Drive Well Reinforcement Kits", but they're no longer available. They seemed like just a basic fiberglass patch kit.

As a preventative measure, I'd like to reinforce this area before taking it on the water. Perusing NWKA and Hobie forums, among others, it seems like everyone's got their own take - whether 3M 8010 (very expensive and difficult to work with), Loctice 3030 (nearly impossible to find/hard to work with/expensive), fiberglass, and G-Flex (seems to be the most recommended).

Either I'm absolutely terrible at searching these archives (likely option), or there isn't more than one thread on it available (fishesfromtupperware's from 4 years ago), but I'd very much appreciate any insight and instruction anyone could offer on the matter.

Have any of you done this procedure before (either preventative or reparative)? If so, what'd you use? How'd it hold up in the long run? Thanks!

I have a 2011 Adventure. It developed a drivewell crack last spring. I used two layers of fiberglass and plenty of 650-8 (standard) Gflex epoxy. It has held up great and completely sealed up as well as reinforced the area. It has been thoroughly tested in the surf and under heavy strain with no leaking whatsoever. Definitely worked for me!

I used GFlex to repaire a drive well crack on a 06 model that has lasted about 4 years.  I did use some cloth reinforcement.  If I had a older model
I would look into the reinforcemet kit.
