I introduced myself in the introduction forum a couple weeks ago but figured I'd post here since I will be back in in the Coos tomorrow night.

Bought a Feel Free Moken 14 in Maryland while visiting my family. So far I freakin love it. Took it out a couple times on the Chesapeake for stripers and pickerel and I'm sold. So much more in touch with the water, taking your time, getting excercise. So now I'm sure I will be obcessively exploring and fishing coos bay and the surrounding waters every chance I get.

Girlfriends mom has a boat but I've only ever gone out for crabs and fishing the jetty. So... Who wants to fish? I have TONS of time and I don't mind heading north or inland to meet up either.

Cool I'm down. What days are they stocking? Is it closed for a couple days after stocking? That's what they did in Maryland, don't know much about oregon trout stocking.

Topically you can throw your bait towards the truck while there dumping them....... Seen lots of people do it ........ But they never bite straight out of the truck.

If we go by last years schedule Saunders Lake gets planted the week of Feb. 24-28 and Empire Lakes gets planted the week of Mar. 3-7. Stocking is either a Tuesday or a Thursday. So I'm thinking maybe Saunders lake Thursday. ODFW should have the fish stocking schedule for 2015 up real soon. Sometimes they don't post the coos county stocking till a couple weeks later so Empire Lake don't get over ran and fish out.

That's crazy people do that... Wouldn't expect to catch anything. Imagine being a fish getting dumped out of a truck into foreign territory...

My buddy does it in SoCal but not to catch trout.  He's fishing the striper blitzes that happen as they dump the trout.

Thursday it is!!!! When my cousin was young he lived by Empire lake, Back then you could call up ODFW and they would tell you the date the time and the truck drivers name. He would show up with his red wagon(imagine 10 yrs. old -this was 40 years ago too) a ice chest and dads salmon net and stand waist deep in the water as the truck was pumping fish out and scoop them up with the net. About 2 scoops and he was done and off to home he would go. happy as Larry.
