Word on the street is the herring are in the bay. Can anyone corroborate or have any reports?

Have heard success from a reliable source that spawn ready and spawned herring are present in Yaquina Bay (as of 2/21 per my intel).  I hope to go jig up a few and try to do some pickling. Not sure how good the spawners are for salmon bait - the summer herring typically make better bait.

Can't say if they are in Yaquina Bay, but they were in in Crescent City about 10 days ago. They only stuck around for about 5-6 days, but I did manage to jig some up out of my kayak.
