that does take pretty good video.  Even full screen it was clear until the salt got on the lens.

Great.  Makes me feel good about my recent purchase of the HDR-AS100.

Regarding the water drop on the lens.  I hear that is a constant problem with the domed lens cover.  I'm hoping a few applications of something hydrophobic like Rain-X might help with that.

Many years ago I had a waterproof point-and-shoot camera which I used while whitewater kayaking.  I put Rain-X on the lens, and it left a coating on the lens which reduced the focus and clarity of the pictures taken with the camera, and I couldn't get the coating off.  So I've never used Rain-X on any other cameras.  I also didn't find it to be effective in eliminating water drops on the lens of the camera.

When buying a waterproof camera, I look for cameras which have a large flat sheet of glass over the lens, and I make a little squeegee out of a section of windshield wiper to use in removing water from the lens cover.  I also look for cameras which are constructed so you can add a waterproof lens cap to the camera.  Then when you get the lens dried off, it will stay dried off until you pop off the cap and start taking pictures.  I describe the squeegee and lens cap ideas in more detail in a posting at http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=14562.msg158060#msg158060 .  A lens cap would be worth making for a video camera which you mount within reach, as you can pop off the cap when you want to start filming, but a lens cap will be less useful if you mount your video camera out of reach on a boom.

I have used Rain-x on my GoPros with no problem. I use Cat PissCrap on the inside to help eliminate fogging.

Rain-X may have improved its formula in the many years since I tried it.  When I tried it, I experienced a distinct and persistent reduction in the quality of my photos.

+1 on the Rain-X on the outside and Cat Crap on the inside.

THat was great to see your launch, some fishing/gaffing/gameclipping and then the beach landing.  NICE!
Looks like a gorgeous day to be out there kayak fishing.
