Is anyone interested to go out fishing at depoe bay on this coming sunday? Will be my first time Out fishing on the ocean (not first time out) and would rather go with someone than alone.

Thanks guys!

P.S. I'm open to other places also as long as there not to far away from depoe bay. I'm driving from albany.

The waves are forecasted to be 11 feet at 13 seconds.  I would suggest not wasting the gas and fish a river or a lake.

Read this article.  It is a great piece of advice regarding the ocean. http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?page=38

Bay fishing I would recommend checking tides as well as wind

I recommend doing your research & reading through some of the good info on this site before going out with the appropriate gear & know-how.
I second Craig's advice...a good place to start is Pelegic Paddler's "Go or No GO" http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?page=38
Good luck & be safe!

The tides for newport don't look to bad. I may fish the outgoing tide if anyone in interested. This is the website I use for tides(we use it for scuba diving).

Never fished newports tide but in tilly bay I won't drop in till 2 hours before low tide if I'm fishing the jetty that way if something goes wrong I'm not getting flushed out and up here our wind gets to blowing harder afternoons

I am jonesing to get out on the ocean, but Sunday is looking rough with swells from three different directions especially the 4.5 feet at 5 seconds coming from the north.  I will probably just try for Springers again.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing for the swell. The one I read was 3.5 feet at 11 seconds.

make sure to look at the detailed report for the particular day you are interested in.   For the attached Cape Kiwanda, note the three different swells for the day, the primary and two "secondary" that are listed when you click the checkbox for "multiple swells".  if you don't click the box you will only see the primary.

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-124.07244&lat=44.81876 when i fish depoe this is what i keep my eye on plus noaa web cam(http://www.northwestwebcams.com/oregon-web-cams.shtm) day or 2 or so before i go.  4 foot or less swell is what i look for- thanks rawkfish.
last year i went out it was 1-2 foot wind wave with 5-6 foot swell, i actually got "bumbed" off my yak, luckily i was able to push it back over and keep it upright before i went in. keep an eye out for 4 foot or less me thinks from now on.
