Hello,  My nickname is McLucky.  and I can attest it is not always good luck.  I am not sure what really happened here?   One week I am laying on the couch reading forums and watching videos of people catching salmon and Halibut in a Kayak, the next thing  I own 2 sit on top fishing kayaks, one sit in kayak and a Paddle BOARD!  I have never been in or on a Kayak in my life nor had I ever desired to be in one  ???    Now I wait for the ice to melt on the lakes around here so I can practice how not to "Turtle" in  the water.  In the meantime I am rigging my first fishing Kayak.  I plan to spend about a month or more on the lakes until I feel comfortable to try the ocean.  I'm not the type to just jump in..... oh uh wait.  :-\

Here's an old joke:  How do you end up owning three kayaks?  Answer: sell two kayaks.

I figure you can't have too many paddle craft.  I currently have four whitewater kayaks, two fishing kayaks, a canoe, and a cataraft.

Whew!  I thought it was just me.
Woke up one morning with 2 kayaks.  Never been on one before in my life.  Next thing you know, I'm all alone in some far flung Alaskan Bay off of PWS struggling to subdue a 65lb halibut from a plastic tub toy.  I sure hope you have an understanding family.....

Welcome to the madness,

+1

I have three kayaks... The other kayaks get used more by friends than family.  Sad part...I still dream of buying another one!  lol.

Wait!  Moi? Blame? I plead INNOCENT!!!!

On a more serious note. Though I consider cook inlet "intermediate" level,  to be honest, I'm more scared of lakes. I never see anyone on them. Help is a long ways away.  I'm not afraid of swimming in saltwater. Freshwater to me has a certain yuk factor to it. Leeches, swimmers itch causing patasites...at least we don't have the brain eating amoebas.

Point is, on a good day, Seward or Whittier is as easy as a lake. Best part...they are ice free right now!!!

Before you know it, I'm floating around some arctic island in a 35MPH wind, cursing another round of Rudy booming "Ooooh yeah Baby!" while I try to find my metaphorical fishing ass with both hands.

On second thought, RUN!  Sell those plastic devils and Run!

 Yeah right.........I plead innocent too.

But look how far you have come. You're now the "Alaska Kayak Guru".
 That's pretty amazing to me.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

It's only because up until recently I was the only kayak angler that seemed to have video editing software.

It has been a great run. I would have never believed the kayak could so revolutionize my fishing. I have float tubes. I have a skiff. A center console. All good stuff. But I can't say I have been as excited or motivated to fish since I got the kayak.

Thanks to NWKA and everyone who makes it what it is!!!!!
