henney mentioned his Tarpon120 has a lot of tail walk under certain conditions.

The Dagger Axis 12.0 with its skeg up does the same. When it is in the down position there is absolutely no tail walk; amazing difference.

I wonder if adding a rudder would eliminate the problem, I'm guessing it would help quite a bit.

Just started using a rudder on mine. You are right, there is a big difference in tracking. Also if the wind is blowing it resists swinging around.

The Ocean Kayak website puts the Ultra 4.3 at 68 pounds. I looked on the ACK site and they say it is 59 pounds.

I posted that very question on the ACK site and they verified the 4.3 weighs in at 59 pounds; you can see their response at the bottom of this page: http://www.austinkayak.com/products/6681/Ocean-Kayak-Trident-Ultra-43-Kayak.html?k=ocean%20kayak%20ultra%204.3

Another phone call to Ocean Kayak on Monday?

For the HOW events we usually stick the bigger guys in non tarpons, they're solid boats but do ride low. There will be a T13, tarpons, and rides available to test drive on Saturday.. You can also jump in my Revo is you'd like.

Thanks Noah,
I would very much like to test paddle a couple of the boats if available.
I am visiting to get acquainted as a volunteer so please bear in mind I will be there to help out; put me to work.

I'm all excited, my first HOW event... see you all next Saturday.
