People fish of the beach for silvers (coho salmon) and cutthroat trout. (CnR on the cutties.) You can cast jigs like Buzz Bombs or Pt Wilson Darts, or if you're nuts like me, use fly gear. :P

It will do for smaller flies and fish. Hook up with a king and you'll be hoping you have a lot of backing. :o

Yessnoo,

Technically, you'll probably still have to pay the extra money for an out of state license.  At least in Oregon you have to be a resident for 6 months before you can get a resident fishing license.  They make you sign an affidavit regarding this claim when you get your license.  My guess is that no one will ever follow up on it, but as things move more and more to digital format I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't cross reference the DMV records to the Fishing license records.

They do cross check among other things.  See page 7.  Search "False Application"

I knew there was a reason I have two out of state licenses right now (WA and OR).  At least next year I can get the resident OR license.  The bad thing about Portland is that half of the fishable water nearby is in WA (Drano, Cowlitz, Lacamas Lake, Silver Lake, etc..) so I find myself needing a license there too.

Residency:

Washington driver’s license, a
Washington identifi cation card,
student ID for person under
15, or military ID with a copy of

I started having things sent to a temp address when I knew I was moving here.  OR asked for bills or anything sent postal that could demonstrate I'd been here 6 months.  May have changed though as that was years ago.

Nope, It's the same. My buddy bought his house about 6 months before he moved here and had bills in his name so he got his Oregon license pretty much the day after he moved here.
See ya on the water..
