Is anybody using these rodholders?  I am not happy with the rear-mounted rod sockets on the Hobie Revo, too far back to see and a bit shallow.  I want to gunnel-mount something up front , what's been good for you????

I haven't actually used them but pretty much all of the Hobie crew in SoCal uses them. One thing I do know about them is that you really need to crank down the wingnut at the bottom of the mount to keep it steady. A strong pull, like a snag or bog fish will move it out of position. Then again having give is exactly what you'd want.

Yup!

But remember to lease your rods in that case.

Is there an option to buy afterwards?
Are their penalties for catching too many fish?

:)

So I've been thinking of switching over to RAM tubes for my front holders on the T15.  The reason is that there is no easy way to mount the Scottys in front without obscuring the FF screen in the sonar shield section.  I would think this might be a general problem with front/center mounted FF.  Even with 8" extenders, it doesn't quite work the way I'd like.  With the RAM tube, I think it will work perfectly.

I've been trying the Scotty baitcast/spin holder after using the RAM rev rod holder for two years.

Scotty

RAM

One thing I've noticed about the Scotty is that for larger salmon rods it's a pain to get out of the holder. The frame for it is really narrow. I liked the rev for just that reason. It's way roomy so an easy release. I think the RAM tube's would be just the same. I hope to be getting a package from RAM in a bit to test out some more different types. I'll let you know how it goes.

It's hard for big rods in the baitcaster rod holders you have pictured.  It's not a problem in the Powerlock or Orca rod holders.

i know this post is old but i ran across this while researching accessories or lack of them for hobie revo

http://yakabout.com.au/home/content/view/288/42/

and this one has better pictures of the mount

http://yakabout.com.au/home/content/view/301/42/

looks like a great way to go to me

but im wondering if that would be just as good....
speaking of hobie rev what is the difference in the 2008 and new 2009 models?

There actually is a big difference in the new models when it comes to the rod holder mounting up there. First off, where that guy mounted the rod holders, is way too far forward IMO. You're really going to have to reach and it's gonna be a PITA if you keep snagging stuff and having to reach forward every time just to clear it. If you go a little further back, like in the pic below, you have a better area to mount on and your rod will be easier to reach. The new rudder controls are there also in the '09s so it's a tight fit but you can make it work.
