Using akfishripper's boca grip weight scale, halibut came up 44lb...my personal best. Again, my gut tells me this might be 50 pounder.  Also the fish whispered before last dying breath that the tourney trophy will be mine. :banjo:

Mak, Halibut are notorious liers. I have been laying low but will be in good form for the the 3rd Annual NWKA Yak Classic and fully expect the trophy will be mine. See you all next week.

Five for five with the new rod. Three kings. Two small butts. Hopefully I have video but it was raining.

Anyone doing either AM slack tide tomorrow? Ended up in homer first part of weekend, slaying pollock... :-\ was thinking of moving a bit north.

I gotta ask Kardinal, did you have the fish-whacking barbie rod set up with your down rigger when you caught those kings?

Nope. Used two ounce weight. No flasher.

A few is will try the AM. Small tide swing so should an anytime deal. 8ish high tide. If I can, I'll try to be early but may not make it.  Should be three or four folks there. Troopers around so know the regs like the closed area!

Hi Folks, how does the camping area look? Have the nomadic people put up their semi permanent camps yet? I'm going to drag my Jumping Jack down on the 28Th and set up for the "Event" My wife is coming and I will bring another kayak for her to use to use. Hopefully we can get some in the freezer. I am getting a Barbie pole, that looks like so much fun I may get one for the wife also. I am also  thinking about bringing a small freezer along and a vacuum sealer. I need to double check the bag limits to see how frozen halibut are treated as in possession if I am there 3 or 4 days. I think I'll have my mother's proxy in time, we put her in for the senor license last week.
Hope to see you all there.

I re spooked with braid. Drag worked great. Rod has decent backbone. Campsite was wet but not packed. Not there now. Maybe someone will chime in.

Cmon down!!!!!
