I love to see new folks enthusiasm for their 1st ORC. If this will be your 1st time please sound off......
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

This is my first year! And this is probably one of the main reasons I bought my kayak and started. I found some YouTube videos, made my decision and haven't looked back and I've had a blast so far.

This is the 1st time in 6 years that I will not make the ORC. :(

I hope everyone catches some huge fish and has an amazing time.

Enjoy!

This will be my first in about 5 years.  Does that count?

This will be my first ORC and really stoked. May have to pick up a Barbie pole. That sounds like fun. ORC is stop #3 on my farewell California tour. I am going to pick up a bunch of oysters in Eureka for the potluck. If anyone wants to help with the shucking, that would be great. Will be camping Friday and Saturday. May hit PC on Sunday so I can introduce myself to the surfers, dory dudes and tweekers. LOL luckily I have numbers so won't get a parking ticket. Scott

There's always the Oregon Oyster Farm on Yaquina Bay in Newport (half hour from DB)  if you don't want to haul them and keep them iced all that way.

Thanks for being part of HOW.

Back in the day it was really cool. Brother Fish Sniffer and his bud Chris the Fish used to throw a pre-fish event if we were blessed with good conditions a couple of weeks before ORC. It was a good opportunity to wash some of the green off, test your gear and get the lay of the boundaries.

I wonder if there's any interested new folks and possibly a proportionate number of more seasoned anglers that might look to get something going this year?

I'm gonna be there one way or another everything I've read about it is getting me pumped for it!  Gonna bring the little lady and my oldest boy to enjoy the festivities while I go out on the water, honestly they're excited for the trip as well!

I've attended the ORC "events" for the past 3 years, but have not ever fished the tournament due to my limited salt water experience.  The weather would need to be IDEAL for me to cross Depoe Bay bar, so I'll have to wait until July 10th to decide if I'm fishing this year.  The kayak community aspect of the ORC is what appeals to me.  Thanks to all the organizers and sponsors for their effort in putting on the ORC.
