I took my Hobie Revo 13 out tonight to test it's stability before I go to the San Juan's this weekend, and noticed an 8inch dent in the bottom of it.  ??? It doesn't leak or anything. It must have happened when I installed my fish finder last weekend. I usually have my kayak on a bunch of mattresses, but installed the fish finder in the yard. I almost feel sick about it, that thing is my baby! Has anyone had this happen to their kayak? Are there any shops that can fix this? Wish I had a picture, but I store it away from my house.

If its just a dent, then pour some hot water over it and watch the dent pop out. If it dosent pop, then  give it a push from the inside.

Or wrap a black plastic bag over it and leave it in direct sunlight till the plastic gets soft. It should find its shape on its own.  If not, just like Blues suggestion to give a nudge.

Also, always store it on its side or upside down. Kayaks are most rigid that way and are less likely to deform while in storage.

Thanks ZeeHawk, I will flip it over. This is my first kayak, so it's all a learning process

This happened to me once from my Yakima saddles. I flipped it over and let it bake in the sun and they eventually popped out themselves.

also be careful when securing then during transport.  This past weekend we were up in Hood River and the temps were in the 90's.  I didn't have my hullevator rack set up correctly so my hubbys kayak was a little tight between the two posts.  His kayak had two depressions on the right underside.  I noticed on Sunday when we were washing and treating (303) so I left his in the sun yesterday and they popped back to normal.  Whew.... he'll never know (until he reads the forum tonight.)
