AOTY entry not working and now not showing AOTY at all

Every time I try logging 3 different entries I have had for AOTY for a month.  It keeps dumping me, and telling me error and timeout problems.  503 Service Temporarily Unavailable is what it is telling me for all of the AOTY area.  Have tried on multiple computers and is telling me the same thing.  Not a big deal just thought you should know.

resize your images to less than less than 1 GB or less. 600 x 400 pixel images are plenty

Yes, your files are probably too large.  When I wrote this nearly 10 years ago, 5 mp photos were about as big as anyone had.

You did manage to bring down the AOTY web service, but it is back up now.

Files were 2.5 MB in size.  For some reason today it's working now.  And I doubt my one attempt at uploading last night crashed it. 

Someone else was probably uploading large files at the time you tried.
