I love the Kassiks scottish ale, but it may not be 'in season' at the moment.   If you bring it - bring you favourite, with thanks !

Yah bring lots!!!!!  I may bring LOTS for the PRE-fishing gathering!  Of course I don't drink very often...but you guys can!!!!  lol.  Every little edge.  Formulating a plan, I think the key here is being able to fish the big (though as not as big as this weekend) tides.

Hmmm .   Refer to RULE #1.

BUT If you all want to include motor kayaks, I'll try to rope in Larry and his Mokai's.   If Motor kayaks remain out, for purposes of the tourney, then I'll try to convince him to take his Mokai and be the official photographer for folks on the water.

I am still IN either way if the weather is good!
I say we let Larry in to the tournament  the more the better
Let's let him fish with us

Oh, Great... Uuqutiiq and I will be down there with you maniacs. We are going for halibut...but now that I'm aware there's a competition, I may abandon the meat run and go for the challenge.

How annoying to know that if we were to hook into "the big one" next weekend on a standard rod, we will immediately feel as if we had some goofy advantage b/c the pole wasn't sponsored by Disney!  :-)

See you dudes down there...I may go with a Wolverine pole if I can find one.

So, to finalize plans for the Barbie rod classic... I am bringing the fryer, oil, and beer batter. If somebody can bring potatoes and onions we will feet up a good meal after a long day of getting our butts kicked with a two foot rod. I will be down there Friday early afternoonto get ready.

OK - I am leaving ANC for Kenai tomorrow, then on to WG on Friday, time TBD.  I plan to camp there Friday and Saturday nights, with return to Kenai by mid-day Sunday.

I'll plan to bring some beer, some gear, and of course my brand new and still perfumed Barbie Fishing pole.

I am happy to stop in at the store and stock up on other items like Onion and Potatoes, will check this thread again on Thursday and build a shopping list.

Looks like I will be heading down on Friday to join the fun. I'm bringing my dip net in case the reds are running. I float with my dry suit and swim fins anyway so one way or another I plan on coming back to ANC with some fish. It seems like things are spoken for already but what can I bring so that I'm pulling my weight for the group?

What has been the kayak success rate on halibut recently out of WG?

My status just changed to AT-RISK - My Dad was admitted to the hospital in Soldotna, so I jumped in the truck and came down to the twin cities this morning early.   If all goes well, he may not be released until Saturday.   If that happens I will have to bow out and get him moved back home.

If he gets out early and is doing well, I'll come down for at least one tide, but ... Better not count on my beer truck for supplies.

Sorry to hear about your Dad akrider.
Do we have an official start/stop time for the derby? I'll be camping in homer with the family and I'm just trying to make some fishing plans around family time. Looks like Sunday will be much better water if the forecast holds true.
Fishing relaxes me. It's like yoga except I get to kill something.
