I want to add Navionics to a new Dragonfly FF. I like to preplan at home on my PC, so want a good set of maps for Puget Sound and San Juans and the ability to set lines and waypoints from home. The package comes with Gold. There is an upgrade option for "+" on the Nav website, but no pricing. Also, what software do you use for planning? I am a long time Delorme user and want to continue pre-navigating from my armchair. Please comment if you have experience with the Nav options.

Navionics is a huge step up that will make you a better fisherman if you learn to read the map well. If you understand where the fish are going to hang out/move based on their habitat and maybe even more important, exactly where you are in relation to it all, your confidence really gets going. I'd go as far as to say it's the best upgrade I've done on the entire yak. The cards can be super expensive so if you want to do it on the cheap, download the Navionics app and get a waterproof case for your phone.

When I do plan for a new spot I'll look over the maps on my FF or on the Navionics phone app and program in waypoints that I think will be fishy. Based on whatever is going on for the day I just skip around those waypoints and work them. If a WYPT fishes well they get a plus added after the name. After fishing a certain area it will be easy to see which spots tend to be more productive.

Can you transfer your points from the phone app to the FF? Or do you just plot them on the FF once you decide what you want. I would imaging the phone app would be good on an Ipad, as well. Right now, I use a PC to pre mark spots. Thanks for the comments.

Not that I know of. I just take the numbers down and add those manually to the FF. :icon_thumleft:

Here is what I found, in case anyone searches the topic:
Navionics will upgrade from Gold (now called NAG or North American Gold) to plus "+" for free for the first year. With plus, you get Sonar Charts that give you 1 foot contour intervals and continuous updates. I can enter my own waypoints or use the App like Zee said,
Or use Raymarine Voyager or Lowrance Insight Planner to set waypoints and copy them to an SD card for transfer to the FF.
Now, on to pre-fishing from my PC. I'll be on the water soon.
