Hey Folks sorry for the late post on the Taco Feed.

To make things somewhat easier this year, the planning team did decide to provide the essentials for this event to reduce any last minute stress to ensure we have the basics and also to take pressure off of folks if they simply cant commit anything.  Below is a started list of what will be provided by Next/ORC.  As folks jump in with anything they want to bring I will update the list.  If you see anything that you believe that the ORC as an event should be providing please let us know and I will be happy to address it.  Also just because we are providing something doesnt mean that we have to cut out somebody who makes a special salsa or ???  Would love the variety from the members and are happy to bow out of an item for a member to take it on!

We will ensure to have a cooler at the weigh station for those wishing to donate fish.  We also can very much use some folks to volunteer to cut fish and possibly some to cook as well as the Next Adventure provided staff will likely be wrapped up in prepping for the other parts of the evening.

I also heard of talk (after last years event) about people not donating so many fish to fry..... I guess the filet guys were a little over loaded.

Any thoughts?

I will be working weigh in and am certainly happy to keep an eye on the estimated levels of fish we acquire so that we have a stopping point if needed.

Any fish that doesnt get cut that night can sit on ice and I will gladly cut it the next day and run through my chamber sealer so that HOW or somebody can use for an event.  When I ran the HOW chapter in SoCal we provided a fish taco lunch to all participants at each event.  We relied on donated fish to keep costs down and it worked great.  If Anthony is interested I will be happy to help with this.  Having working in Commercial and Sport fishing cutting a few hundred Rockfish isnt a huge deal to me at all and I am happy to help cut fish at the event as well if somebody else wants to volunteer to help at weigh in.

Ya how about everyone help out!

You have all caught fish before so I'm sure you can fillet a fish. Don't just drop off fish for someone else to clean and cook for you ....

Hogwash I say ... speaking as one of the filet guys of course.  The only issue I had was the turnaround time on beer being delivered was a bit long.  But other than that, we had a ton of fun on the docks.  We had a pretty good assembly line going.

I second that.  It was fun until the knife slipped. I was getting the shakes because the beer wasn't being delivered fast enough. Also, I have one fryer and a jug of oil to contribute.

I was part of the first shift of the fillet crew last year, and have helped in prep & cooking all three years I have done ORC, and one thing I can say is that there has always been an overabundance of fish. So I have the following suggestions:

1) donate as many fillets as you want
2) donate 1 lingcod, or no more than 3 rockfish, to be filleted by the crew
3) keep the cabezons to yourself
4) please leave the Chinook Bend cleaning station free for the fillet crew on Saturday afternoon. Keep your fish (whole) on ice until they are done.
5) feel free to supply beer to the crew (and stay clear of knife wielding inebriates)

**These are my suggestions only, I do not speak for any of the organizers**
