A little off topic. I'm taking a buddy for smallmouth on Sunday from shore. we were planning on the John day but weather may not permit that. I'm hoping some of you know some good shore fishing spots for smallies (no hagg lake) within 2.5 hrs of Portland.

That was my exact plan. Thinking Bonneville, tough not having been there myself and wanting to get a a newer guy in fish. I do love me some exploring though.

Anything that looks like a salmon/steelhead smolt or crawfish should get gobbled up

The usual suspects for smallies. So much easier when I can be on the yak.
