Can I ask where and what the shipwreck is? Googling "Shipwreck in lower Columbia" gets a rich history of wrecks going back 160 years or so ...
Do a google maps search for "USS Plainview"

If you want to see where "Shipwreck" is on a map.... go to the mouth of the Colombia on DeepZoom and click on the 1st icon east of the Astoria bridge. It will say Hungry Hollow . That map will also show you where the "Blind Channel" is on the Washington side of the river. Here is a link to Deep Zoom

Deep Zoom is a good site to see the current strength, current speed, and what the tide is doing at any given time or day. You'll need to zoom in to see the under water depths.  Nice planning tool.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Thanks Mark,  must have just missed you. I will probably be out that way a half dozen times or so through the season as time permits.  I have an emotion stealth beige colored.  If you see me out there feel free to give a holler.  I had a little success out there last year so I'm looking forward to giving it a go this year.

Great posts Mark - appreciate your insights. I enjoy that stretch of water. Went out today and water was choppy with big tide changes and big current flows. Spotted several kings and a sturgeon crest the water on the slack with plenty of bait and fish on the FF. Lots of company in the dry net crew out there. Water seems really warm. Hope to catch you on the Mighty this summer-

Got it on the USS Plainview, just upstream of Megler on the Washington side. What an odd fate for a Navy hydrofoil.
