What are folks using for their SOT kayaks ?

When I bought mine at NA, they sold me one of http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TM3TCQY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 and I took it out once at Cook Parks, it did really well. So I bought a second for Mrs. P's Yak off Amazon.

Well, in both cases we have had a lot of trouble with the arms swinging off center, and then the kayak is no longer centered between the wheels, and the cart just flops over on its side.

The other thing that happens is the posts that go through the scuppers go too far - past the bend ! Which also collapses the cart. Not only doesn't it get you to the water (or back), but your kayak gets to take a nice scrape, all your stuff falls out, and of course I worry about the stress on the scupper holes themselves.

Anyone have a different/better cart for their SOT ? I liked the idear of a scupper-hole cart - no straps, holds the kayak secure, etc. But this is a PIA and I don't want to damage the boat, neither.

Yes, there are much better options out there.  The stuff that Wheeleez makes is amazing.  The big beach wheels I have make soft sand feel like I'm pulling my kayak across a sidewalk.  Here's their website: http://www.wheeleez.com/

Also, you may want to bring your cart back to Next and see what they can do for ya.

I'm kinda afraid of the inflatable wheels, for packability and also leakage. The c-tug looks like it disassembles down to nothing. How about the wheelez ?

Next can't help with the second one I bought, and I thought it was terrific after the first use. No, it's on me and not them.

Wheelez! With the big tires. I have over loaded the hell out of mine and it goes over just about anything! A must for soft sand.
Get the BIG one!

+1 on the Poly Wheeleez.  Those balloons can take a beating and are repairable if ever punctured.  Never had one ever get punctured yet.

Also, I built 3 of the 4 carts I've owned since 2008.  One was the "Granny Cart" that you can find here with the search button. The other two are scupper style carts made with Sched 80 PVC, 3/4" solid aliminum axle, and Wheeleez poly balloons.

Tried a Scupper Swift first, didn't work well with the large Jackson scupper holes.  C-tug breaks down into 4 pieces -- 2 wheels and 2 parts for the yoke.

I have a Wheeleez mini I'm willing to part with. A balloon tire one and does break down and will to fit in large hatch. This is the mini- not the big one. I've only used it twice. http://www.wheeleez.com/kayak-cart-mini.php. Not a nice as the big ones but good for smaller boats or those on a budget.

I picked up a jogging stroller. Had to drill out a few rivets, and reconfigure pieces, but did no cutting. 12" bicycle wheels. Don't use it on sand, so can't speak to that. Into 3rd year. Not pretty, but works great on my Outback.

For reference, the kayaks we have are my Predator MX and her Tarpon 100. Neither has particularly large hatches - they would not stow the Suspenz, so that was just extra lost room in the tankwells.

Forgot to add a picture of my Shed 80 PVC/Wheeleez scupper cart.
Been using this on my Revo since I got it in 2010.
No issues yet.

Best part is that it breaks down and fits into tiny hatches.
Two uprights, one cross bar, one axle, two wheels and 4 spring pins.

I'm gonna study that homemade cart a bit, go by Home Depot with weekend and pick up some of the parts, then probably break down and buy a c-tug.
