I did a search and looked through the previous posts on Hoodsport.  Sounds like the pinks are in so my son and I are thinking about going on Sunday.  Just curious about the launching and parking.  Is the fishing pier the place to be for launching a kayak?  Any tips on gear and methods for this particular fishery?

I have pink buzz bombs, flasher with a pink hoochie if I wanted to downrig and troll.  Pink jigs  and a couple of smaller pink meps spinners, but any tips out there?l

2 weeks ago in the San Juans, the pinks were caught casting a 2 oz pink buzz bomb with spinning gear in front of jumpers. Evenings were best.

There are fish there but it is still early.  The park worked great with the stairs to the beach and easy parking.  I picked up one fish. My son had one one but lost it.  I was using my kokanee rod so it was a great fight!  After catching trout and kokanee all summer (and I love catching kokanee) catching a pink was a wake up call. It came in at first and got one look at the kayak and was off to the races.  Loved it.
Fought bigger than it looked.  We got trashed by about an hour cloud burst,  still had a great time with my son and got two more fillets for the smoker.  Will be back for more a little later in August!
