Scored good on a 10ft fishing yak.   Nothing fancy but for $240 I am sure I will get my monies worth out of it.

Now to spend $5000 on gear and accessories.

Welcome. Nice you found a kayak in your price range.  But for safety tie the front and back to bumpers.

Took the pic before i finished the tie down.  It will actually fit in our van so i can be lazy and my wife will enjoy driving the car on fishing days.

Went out this morning to put the yak to the test.  Handled really well, lots of room and very stable.   Managed to score a personal best largemouth as well.  6 pounds 1 ounce.

Think this yak is a keeper.

Me thinks you forgot to mention the where part of that trial run.

Congrats man. That's an awesome way to start out kayaking. I just got a kayak myself I have not been fishing in it yet but I walked it down to the lake by my house and paddled around for a bit and let my daughters sit on my lap and paddle around. Did the kayak ride well on your car like that? Is all I have is a car and I've been worried about throwing it on top of the car. Did you just use some foam pads?

Definitely not a permanent solution, but for what they are, they work really well. Beats dicking with foam blocks. We hauled ass down I-95 with 2 kayaks on it. Only drawback was when it rains the water pours in down the straps because the door seals get pulled back. Way better than rolling up hotel towels when you are on vacation.

They *could* be a permanent solution...  Those inflatable tube racks are what I've been using for 4+ yrs now  :D  Elie Gulf 120XL atop a Honda Civic Hybrid and they work fine.

Glad to see you posting on the forum, and that you were able to get to the lake. I didn't think it would be long before your daughters went for their first ride. Hope you enjoyed it.

It rode good from Roseburg to Myrtle Point.   Been using a borrowed sit inside for awhile and it was really nice to be able to get in and out without it looking ridiculous.

Went to Johnson Mill Pond.  Some big bass in there.

Yea my daughters had me take them out that same day. Kayaks great thank you again Dave. Im hopeing to take it out onto the sound this weekend for some flounder then possibly hoodsport for some pinks. Just depends, I still need to invest in a PDF and a few other safety items.

Jim the kayaks ride good with the inflatable rack?? Do you just strap it front and back? I dont really have any good tie points on the front of my car just the back.

thanks for sharing!  We'll put the lake on our list of places to fish.  Nice bass.
Happy fishing!
