one of the hatchery over here had a HUGE surplus of cut throats so they let them them loose in the Rock island pounds and raised the limit from 5 to 15 fish. I took my kids over there on friday and had a blast with my 2 year old Chloe and my son Trenton. Chloe caught 5 fish and when I hooked one for here she wanted to  hold it and pet it. (her middle name is Oceana, hence her love of fish) It was so fun watching them it almost made me cry. Kidds are great. (Hey polepole don't wait to long ;D)
Went over to P.A.  for 2 days. Anyone fishing the Dungeness?

The Dungeness has been very low and slow, like most westside rivers. Used to fish it, once in a while. If you like that area, you might want to check out halibut at Dungeness Spit with me, next spring.  ;D

My 4 yr old was peeved with me this weekend, because I didn't bring her rod when I brought my flyrod.  ::) Ooops.

While we were in the area we drove out to the Dungeness area and as we approached the river there were cars and trucks parked on either side of the road, I said to my wife "caution men fishing"  as we crossed the river we could see guys down there fishing. My wife asked how I knew that. Anytime you see trucks parked at a river crossing there are most likely men fishing.

That is a good Idea about the hali next spring. I wish I was there now to drop a crab pot.(nov) So what do you think about the flounder scene in that area. If it was a viable fishery it could keep a guy fishing year round.

Did you go to the Rock Island ponds? there is 3 or 4 ponds that they stalked and one that is a kids pond. It's good fun for the kids. And not to bad eating I smoked the ones we caught, tastey.

I'm sure you could find plenty of flounder in the bay. When I was a kid, they used to aloow access to the bay at the inside of the spit. I'd wade with a net at low tide, and have no problem picking up a limit of crab. Great clamming, too.

Recently, I've been getting only an hour or two, at a time, to fish, so I haven't left the valley. (Except for dropping kids in Seattle, then hanging out near Port Townsend with my wife and little one.) When I take the kids out, it's usually to Patterson Lk., near Sun Mtn. Lodge, for perch and crappie. It's about 15 minutes from our house.
