Had a great day today at pc today.  Salmon fishing in the morning went very well.  Got out there super early and got rewarded for it.  Started the day by hooking a 10-15 lb chinook in 160 fow.  The nate cohos seemed to be spread out in the morning.  Had takes and landed a couple in 150,170. Then trolled back toward the rock and hooked up a couple more times in 100 fow or less getting a hatchery coho in 80 fow.  My set up was my usual delta diver, chartreuse flasher, and plug cut herring.
After getting my salmon limit I bottom fished for a while hooking three cabbys all in the 20-25 inch range.  Kept the first one which was 22 inches.

Fun fun day!

Whoa!  Better delete this post.  Wipe the pictures off your camera. Give the fish to a friend.  Get really drunk and try to forget you even went fishing today.

This reminds me of a Youtube video I found when Googling "Spearfishing Missoula." A couple kids made the video while spearfishing in a spot which is readily identifiable as the pool in the Bitterroot River above the Highway 93 bridge in Missoula.  The video includes the kids' names, pictures of them spearing all kinds of fish, and pictures of them proudly holding speared fish.  Unfortunately, spearfishing isn't legal on the Bitterroot River.  I wonder if they got ticketed as a result of posting the video.

I'll leave the post.  I'll own up to it.  It was an honest mistake and if there are any tickets or whatever coming my way I probably deserve it.

I really doubt you need to worry about it.  I don't think anyone here is going to report you - this isn't ifish.

You could always claim you lost the fish in a canoe accident...

I appreciate that about this forum compared to others (ifish). If I do get a ticket, I'll gladly pay.

I commonly check regs for a bunch of places.  When I finally pull the trigger to go fishing I check for updates on the ODFW website the night before, just to make sure I've got it right for the day. It's saved me from mistakes a few times.

Most fish & game violations in Oregon (including yours) can be prosecuted as Class A misdemeanors, which have a maximum of a $6250 fine and one year in jail...

While that may be true, how often do you hear of that kind of sentence being applied?  ODFW encounters non-compliance like this on a regular basis.  In this guy's case they would just confiscate the fish at the ramp, write him a ticket for probably around a couple hundred bucks after he explained to them it was an honest mistake. I imagine they reserve the full penalties for people they want to make examples of or where there was clear intent to knowingly violate the regs.
