Oh, and I forgot to mention that I hooked into something massive at WG last week.  Fishing was slow, and I was tinkering around on my cellphone when my rod doubled over and line peeled out for a good 30 seconds. At the time I was drifting with the current at about 2.3mph, but this fish with all its might drug me 1mph up current for about ten minutes.  It felt like I'd snagged a whale, but was getting it reeled in about a quarter of the way when I lost it.  I wish I could have seen what it actually was...only God knows.

Hope you get em!

Ouch.  Sounds like another "burning butt itch" story.  JK!  How deep were you fishing?  Last week my buddy went PB fishing around WG and the fish finder was showing school near the bottom.  Maybe warm water is forcing them into deeper water.

His group caught two kings near Anchor Point around 60ft of water...low tide on Saturday.  Maybe your fish was a big feeder king.

I was fishing in about 75-80ft of water...7 miles SW of WG.  I've yet to catch a king, so I have no idea what that would feel like.

I was fishing this area. Got lots of big hits, and took out two 33" halibut. Not the biggest, but I'm happy with it.

Paddling back in trying.to distract myself. I time to tides a little off and was a little Eager to get out but .I floated very far furthest I've ever gone north.anyways fishing was slow I hooked butts in about 6 hours of fishing. most all of them were small, smallest fish iv seen all year. I ended up keeping one probably around 15 to 20 pounds. I did catchOne trolling  a co-killer which was a first for me. Water was absolutely calm and flat I saw some bait on the surface and a couple salmon chasing bait. I attempted to try to buy them but saw that they were spooked Once they saw my boat. Any advice for tactics when you see this? Lots of Otter pups making a lot of noise out in the water which was interesting. My new Hookset up work right as I didnot miss any fish landed all six.

Also lots of jellyfish in the water.

I like the spot Martin was fishing a lot.  Seem to be the most consistent spot for me.  Bummer about the big takedowns both of ya had without seeing the fish.

I know we fish shallow for kings in the spring but in the fal off powerboats, we tend to fish further out in 80 to 100 ft of water for the kings.  So where you see bait, there will be kings.  My August king came in 65 ft of water.

Busy Saturday so I have to stay close to town.  Might make a run somewhere on Sunday.

It's a far peddle, but worth it.   Whenever I go fishing I can't be in a time crunch, so my thought it I'll get back when I get back...hopefully before its dark.

Well I fished two tides. The first I already spoke of. The second was a pathetic display of fishing for me. I entered the water 2 hours before flack low. My i tentio a were to get out to 80ft of water. Without a depth finder it is challenging. I got out to about 60 ft then decided to go further. Paddled out for another 20 mins and found that it was much shallower and a bunch of snaggy kelp. I drifted to the anchor River mouth area. Spent the next hour or so fighting the tide to reposition, then the wind kicked up and I was spent. Paddled into shore to rest and saw people catching silvers at the mouth. Got back in and trolled back to wg as I had to leave. One take down trolling a coho killer . I think it was maybe a silver or a dv. Didn't even halibut fish which was a disappointment. Saw a power boater limit on 20 pounders and 1 silver. He said he caught an 80# yesterday in 70 ft. There's definitely still butts out there. I'm thinking I need a ff and down rigger for the Kings.
