Hello to the NWKA Community-

I don't own a kayak yet, but I have become totally obsessed by the idea of kayak fishing.  This site and others have become very bad for productivity in the other parts of my life.  I have logged some time lurking around NA looking at boats and attended Rawkfish's Salmon class the other night.

I fly fish and bird hunt and have done some salmon and tuna fishing from boats, but mostly with guides and I don't claim to be particularly good at any of these.  I did not grow up doing any of this and have just started to take on these awesome hobbies in my adult life.  That said, I have a lot to learn and look forward to getting your thoughts as I acquire all the basic equipment.

I have a wife and three kids, 9-13 years old.  That could impact my quantity of time available for trips to the coast, but that is where I want to get one way or the other.  Might be mostly mid-week day trips.  I am also motivated to share this with them from a tandem as time goes on.

Regarding a boat, I initially thought that I would leak into the sport with a simple paddle kayak, but then the idea that I would "do it once and do it right" set in and the Hobies seem compelling in that regard.  My first love was a tandem Outfitter with the idea that I could use it solo and/or bring a kid along with me.  My youngest really does not want to be left behind.  However, after demoing a few boats at NA, I am leaning toward a Revo 13 for myself as I get through the first part of the learning curve before taking on passengers.  Solo, that Revo is like a sports car compared to the Outfitter.  So there you are, I don't even have one boat and I already see the "NEED" for two!
