The one place I found 6, 8, 10, 12, AND 16oz!! banana/trolling weights, is actually Walmart. I just stocked up on all sizes at the Walmart on Debarr in prep for Winter Kings >:D They had smaller ones too.

Not certain how they compared in price but seems to best supply I've seen yet, anyone know better or cheaper?

10oz.....$6.68ea
12oz.....$7.48ea
16oz.....$8.88

I tend to buy all my weights / sinkers on Fleabay and pay typically half what local sources are asking.  Not certain how many auctions out there for the heavy weights your wanting but quickly found one for a quantity of 10 - 10 oz. for right at $26 with shipping which looks to be $2.6 each.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-OZ-SPIN-BANANA-CRESCENT-MOOCHING-SINKER-QUAN-OF-10-/181826043186?hash=item2a55ad3d32

If you don't mind doing without the "anti spinning" property that banana provide,  searching under trolling and torpedoe sinker / weights provide a good number of auctions in heavier weights.
This one is for 6 - 12oz  torpedoe style for roughly $3.50 each

http://www.ebay.com/itm/6pcs-12oz-torpedoe-fishing-weight-trolling-lead-sinkers-inline-sinker-/140903391994?hash=item20ce7f22fa

Took me roughly 20 seconds to find those two auctions.  Most likely even better deals there if you scan through all the results of a search.

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

I go eBay.

Bought a pack of 3ea 6, 8, 10, 12 oz for $15 for 12.   Got a bulk pack of 20 @ 16oz torpedoes coming at 2.50 each.  Lots cheaper than Walmart.  I ordered 4x more than I need really so Can part with some of these 16ers if anyone needs a few. Should be here in a few days.

I do my own weights and happy to help out fellow yakers. I just need to find the time to melt lead, I think I can get buy on a couple bucks each no matter the size.

Hit me a text and qty of what size I'm happy to make some. 9073986909

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how heavy the sinkers are that you all use.  Currents, huh?

kwake1971, you may get a text from me soon! what size molds do you have? how are you doing on lead, I have couple pounds of scrap lead if you are in need.

polepole, I'm getting used to it myself. I cringe every time I see the rod bouncing with the 10+oz weight as waves pass by, it just give me a reason to keep me line in the water fishing! But how I see it is that a heavy weight in conjunction with a line counting reel I can be pretty confident in the depth I'm trolling at but anything less I feel like I'm fishing the surface since the line is so far stretched out behind my boat and at a shallow angle. I'm still looking for a better alternatives,,

Ah ... I see, trolling.  But why the need to so many different sizes?

Current, wind speed and if applicable tide flow, all change with different directions and speeds of trolling

Precisely! Another big reason for me is drag from a flasher, lure or bait. Dragless flashers like Fish Flash get on the smaller end, say 8-10oz vs big dodgers that impart a lot action but also a lot drag get the 16 ouncer.

My meat rods are stiff enough I use heavy weights even mooching for cohos. Drops faster so it's in the zone longer and the bait spins faster.  But the next project for feeder kings and leading up to the shallow water fishery is a more light line approach. Gotta change something up in case I get lucky and start filling the freezer again with kings!  Dang we go through. Lot!! lol.

How about a downrigger?  You can see a downrigger weight on your fish finder, so you know where the weight and your lure are with respect to the bottom and suspended fish.

Standard OG trolling rigs in CA are 3-4# balls on release "whistles".  Yeah, they drop lead to the seafloor.  Kayakers here have adapted this and  troll 1-2# balls.  Others use divers.  Many use 7' rods like the Ugly Stik BWC2200 or an equivalent Calstar (270?).  PB may upsize to a something like BWC2201.  Others may downsize to something like a Calstart 196.  These sorts of rods have a good backbone, but still have a sensitive tip.

Many swear that this sort of rigging has better "action" than downriggers.  It does result in the rigging being farther away from the boat.  Or it doesn't involve wire and the electrical signals associated with them.  Many ways to skin a cat.
