Congrats on the Chinook! You will now be fully addicted and think about nothing else this time of year like a whole lot of us around here. I can't wait until next weekend and it isn't even Monday.

Ahh, the first Chinook. The dancing of the tip followed by the ceremonial burying of it in the water. The incessant tugging interspersed with the keening of the reel as it peels of line in an energized run to the bottom. There is nothing like the battle of a Chinook. It is truly a uniquely satisfying experience.

Welcome to the addiction.

It will be King Fever from now on. Those dreams that wake you up in a cold sweat, the obsession with watching weather and river flows. Sorry about that buddy but this is just how it is.

One day you'll ask - why didn't I take the blue pill?

I couldn't have said it better.

Congratulations on getting that monkey off your back!  Even though Drano can be a zoo, I'll bet it was still a lot more relaxing than the crazy parade outside Hammond.

From now on, you can just plan on devoting Augusts to the pursuit of Chinook.  It truely is an obsession.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

Great report, Austin. ...first of many I'm sure. Having witnessed your tenacity at Astoria, I know we'll be seeing more of this. Congrats!

I want to thank everyone for the kind words.it was a hell of a experience that I have dreamed about many times.I plan on giving it hell and repeating many times over. But most of all I want to thank the kayak salmon veterans.you all have done the hard work to figure these things out long b4 me.you make it possible for those of us chasing that first one to get it on the boat.the help you give us all is more than we can say thank you for.
