Hi all --

Anyone know if there are any shops in the greater PDX area that rent/demo fishing yaks?

Thinking of heading up to Lost Lake in a couple of weeks and thought I might take the opportunity to give this a try.

Cheers,
Hikeon

they are just east of jantzen beach.  i know they have a couple of prowlers/malibu/hobie for sale so i assume they would rent them as well.

They're not kicking any butt. It goes OR, WA, OR, WA, WA for the top five! Represent WA WR!

And I'm dead last.   :'(

I've fished less this year (by far!!!) than I have the past few years.  That kinda sucks.  Hopefully I can make it up this fall.

In Portland, try Alder Creek or Next Adventure. If you don't want to carry a boat all the way from Portland, you can also stop in the Kayak Shed in Hood River on your way to Lost Lake. I believe they have Hobie demos now. Also, depending on when you're going, I might be talked into heading over that way & bringing a boat along for you.

Hi all --

Thanks for the info...  I will give Aldercreek, Next Adventure, and the Kayak Shed a call to see what they have.

Alaskazi - thanks for the offer of potentially meeting up at the lake...  Unfortunately, the trip is still tentative, and if I do get to go, I'll be with my wife and 2 y.o. daughter... Thus, trying to maintain a schedule is often difficult, (and I wouldn't want to subject you to their scheduling whims.)  Depending upon my daughter's mood, I may get hours of paddling, or I may get 5 minutes.  :)

Best,
Scott

No worries, I've got a 10 & 11-year old, so I gave up on sticking to any regular sort of schedule a long time ago. If I can make it up when you're going, I'm good with bringing a boat for whatever amount of time you end up needing it. I just like an excuse to go up there ;D
