For us that came up from NCKA this is old news.  For those who haven't seen it, I suggest you also check out the NCKA article and NCKA forum thread.

I know Dan and fished with several times.  He's a very quite guy and an NCKA lurker until the attack.  Let his story be a warning to all lurkers here on NWKA.

With those fins, the Hobies must look too much like pinnipeds. ::)

Yup ... last summer's news.  I got a call the next morning from Mooch at NCKA about this.  Of course it was the morning we were leaving dock to head out to catch those salmon sharks.  I took revenge on that GW's cousins.   >:D

I think the cat that invented the Mirage drive patterned it after penguins.   And they are food  for various predators. IT would give me pause to pedal in an area with GWS!

Dunno if I'd take the "Hobies looks like seals" so far. There's been two reported attacks of great white's on SOT yaks off the west coast of the USA, one a Hobie in NorCal and one an Ocean Kayak off Catalina in SoCal. About as far as you could get from scientific if you ask me. And to even further the trouble of finding out why they attack, the color of the Hobie was red and the Ocean Kayak blue. There is even a report of a guy in Australia in an orange Ocean Kayak that was attacked by a GWS. I think they like to munch on stuff and when we're in a place where they're known to be around we all are in the same dilemma, no matter what yak we ride.

I figure I'll just attach a big ass circle hook to Zee's bow.   Might get lucky and hook the the thing.   ;D

How exactly do you rig a kayak for trolling so you get the right action? Do they have to be plug-cut? >:D
