Launched on the west side of Ebay at about 5:15 for some early morning salmon trolling w/ PolePole. Still totally dark when we launched and there were quite a few boats out there so popped on the stern light. We dropped our gear and trolled in the dark w/ the rest. 5 minutes into it I'm hooked up w/ my first shaker to 12". 30 minutes later another and 10 minutes after that one more. I was beginning to think that's all I was gonna get for the day until I got a nice strong takedown. FINALLY!!!! A very nice fight that had some of the power boaters looking on. I guess they were waiting to see the agony of defeat when that fish threw me for a loop but the fish was hooked well and through all the thrashing couldn't throw the hook. A few passes later I busted out the net and landed a 24" 8# male chinook. The way it fought I was really surprised that it only went 24" but looks like that fight may have come from the girth. Still a beauty of a fish so on to the stringer and got a mild cheer from a nearby PB'r. I gotta say, they may not be the most accommodating while fishing but a lot seemed to get really stoked when they see we're not just a bunch of goofs out there and can really land fish.

About 15 minutes later the winds just turned on and blasted us off the water so called it a day. On the way home I caught this super yak rack. Nice.

BTW. Recently I've made a new tradition when I come home with fish. I always want to eat some but cooking fish after a tiring time is just a bit much. So what I do is make what I call a Victory Soup & Sandwich. I clean and fillet the fish and then throw the head and bones into a pot a of boiling water. After about 10 minutes I take all the bones out and pick the carcass for meat and it always amazes me how much I can get.

I then get some mayo, mustard, spices etc. and whip up a sandwich. Strain the water and add some miso and makes a nice soup. The victory lunch!

What were you using for lure?  I went out Saturday evening and Sunday morning -- used coho killer and tried brined herring-- no luck, no bites.

Using my favorite emerald hoochie behind a Hot Spot UV flasher. I didn't see anyone else catch anything so it was some tough conditions for sure.
