I took my 14 year old grandson kayaking on the Hump Sunday. We put in  at the public launch off Hwy 109 and went upriver . About a mile above the highway the river makes a hard left turn and we found a deep hole where an incoming creek had carved a 25 foot deep area. And it was loaded with fish.
We had several hook-ups but only came home with one silver....a 12 pound hatchery brat that still had sea lice on him. No pictures this time. But I did finally get a new camera  ::) ::) ::)
I will definitely be fishing this  spot again. It is all tide water...so if you want to give it a try.... a little hint. Go around the island at the launch. There is a huge impassable log jam if you try to go  straight up from the launch. Plus there looked to be some decent water below the launch that we didn't even try. Quite a few silvers rolling around out there too. All is not dead for silvers yet.

Mark thanks for sharing & what a great day of memories! I'm sure your grandson will have fond memories of that day his whole life.

Yup............. love taking grandkids  fishing. Took him out in the Outback a month ago in a lake. He did great. Working the current of a moving river was new to him and he handled it like a pro. He wants to go again and go we will.
He is living with a fractured family (like so many kids these days are) so the timing has to work out. But I consider these kind of adventures crucial to a kids development. Now to convince both set of parents.

I want to bring him down to Raymond for a weekend and hit some of the creeks down here. He has 4 other siblings at home so I know a little calm , peaceful time away from home does him good. And if we can catch some fish---- that will just be icing on the cake.
