Swan Island sturgeon

On the water about 10:00am and off about 1:30pm.  Set up right across from the Coast Guard station. Pretty much non stop action with a couple of shakers on up to a 6ft bubba!  Arms were tired after 3 hours! 

It was my first trip in about 6 months. I'd been sidelined with a cataract,  waiting on surgery. Felt great to feel the pull again. Glad I layered up, as it was a bit chilly. Fish Finder wouldn't power up so I'll have to diagnose that!

The event is being organized by the Lower Columbia Kayak Anglers. It is open to everyone. Last year we had 25 to 30 people participate and I expect a similar number of participants this year. With all that bait in the water it really gets the sturgeon going! Nearly everybody caught fish and it was really cool to see that many kayaks on the water.

This year's event is on Sunday Dec. 6th and runs from 7 AM to 2:30 PM. We will get together for beers and good afterwards at the Stormbreaker Brewery.

Hey Snarf, thanks for the post. Glad to hear you are back after it after your medical issues.
I have been mostly fishing out toward the main river and down by the train bridge in the Swan Island area, but after your post, I decided to give it a try way back in the lagoon today. It was awesome! About had my arms torn off by keeper and oversized sturgeon. I had to send in my ff so any info is helpful.
