I'm looking at adding the Sidekick outrigger kit to my hobie Revolution 13. I feel comfortable most of the time in my kayak, except when I'm pulling crab pots. Does anyone use this kit while crabbing, how much more stable does this make your yak? Do the outriggers slow the kayak when you're on the water?

The sidekicks can be flipped up and be off the water during high speed water coverage.

The ama kit is awesome. It gives you a lot of stability. I installed the kit on my Revo16 and I was happy with the performance.

Used it once.  Amazing additional stability.  Then again I have an outback that is almost impossible to flip without them.  I have never used them again.  It just got in the way when I was trying to help my kid out.  Oh...and for the safety police, my kid is wearing a life vest under his windbreaker.  lol.

I added them on my revo 16 as well; great addition for big water.  They slow you down a bit but there are 3 different settings for the height.  I use the middle setting most of the time.  You can also add Scotty rail mounts on the middle cross bar; I have 2 rocket launchers mounted there.

The added drag in the lowest position was handy this year while trolling for salmon on strong current days.

Used them on my adventure, worked great, til they didn't. Do not under any circumstance use them in surf, broke main tube abd damned near killedme as I was bracing hard on left side when it went. Course Ilistsome gear but lost two very nice fish out of my bag. No fun fir an old man.

Could you share how the main tube was broken? Did it pop out of the mounting bracket or ripped at the push ping? I am asking because when I watch the installation video for the kit, I was surprised that the mount bracket didn't appear to have backing plates, but rather was some kind of expansion fitting. Thanks in advance!

I had mounted with a backing plate  tube broke at the bracket aluminum split and cut the crap outta my hand. Would advise you use the expandeabls as the could  pop out, Rather than brakeing tube, course youll still get a wet butt and probably water in boat but better than getting cut up and bleeding, especially in Texas gulf waters. Hobie told me they dont recommend amas for surf launch or recovery, I asked where they said that in their ads, mo response. Art

I'm thinking it would be cool to jury rig some tiny adjustable homemade amas to go on the tandem island when I'm not sailing. Haven't seen anyone actually do it though. With the standard amas it's a hassle to pedal but with little ones that come out of the water it could really be a screamer.
