Here's a video from last Sunday. Conditions were super nice. I got my boss and his dad on their first bottom fish from a kayak. My boss caught his first cabby ever. He was pretty stoked. There were a bunch of guys out on the water that day. I caught nothing but lings and two cabbies.

I'm really digging the Adventure Island. I can't wait to finally sail that thing.

Enjoy

What a great day on the water, thanks for sharing the video.
Where did you find the Hawg trough with auto-release?  Got to get me one of those...

I took my new TI out on Eel lake for a break in run 11-22, had a blast!   Only picked up one coho on the ff, no bites but had enough wind to scoot with the sail.  Hit Tahkenitch the next day, solid wind and really got moving.  I am loving the new yak, and need to express my thanks to you folks at Waxers...  great service and I am glad to point anyone looking for a new Hobie in your direction...
Be cool to hit Simpson Reef with you guys and "island up"!

Nice vid!

How does pedaling the AI compare to your old Revo?

Skidplate.  I'll let Chris give you his reply from his experience between both the Revo and AI as well, but I can tell you that between mine I can feel that the AI is much much smoother movement through the water than the Revo and faster.

Even with the ama's and aka's deployed and mast installed, the AI is faster than the Revo in the same water/conditions while pedaling.  This was not measured by racing, but by GPS speed (same GPS used).  Although I obviously felt the difference in the seat, I was surprised how fast the AI was fully rigged out.

The AI ama's don't really touch the water much unless there is a wave, or during a turn when pedaling.  They get more water time when sailing and have the sail pulling hard one side.

Without the extra AI gear installed, and just cruising with the AI hull only, I can feel the primary stability difference with just slightly more tippy feeling than the Revo.  However, the secondary stability is ridiculous!
I can lean far enough to one side or the other in the AI hull to have water freely flow in and out of the rear rod holders without falling overboard, and still right myself.  I can't even get close to this in the Revo.

I am so looking forward to fishing Depoe Bay, and Sunset Bay with my AI in 2016.   :headbang:

Chris, great video bro!

I noticed you spent much of the time with one Ama tucked in during fishing and the other still deployed.  Do you have the tramps?  If not, I would HIGHLY recommend having at least the one to your right in place while fishing.  The extra real estate is awesome!

The times I was out dinking around in my AI and had my Ama tucked in and bungee'd, it drove me nuts how it slaps back and forth with the small waves around.  I am looking to make either a stronger bungee or a solid 1"strap and hook connection to keep the slap to a minimum.

Thanks for the info Insayn. I was curious what kind of an effect is felt with the amas. Is this comparing the AI to the Revo 16 or the 13?

Sorry, I was comparing a 2013 AI to a 2010 Revo 13.

Thanks for checking it out, guys.

The AI pedals really well with the amas deployed. I was surprised. It doesn't feel like the amas cause too much drag, at least not so much as compared to how the Outback feels in heavy current or wind.

Compared to the Revo13 and 16, I won't really have a good answer until I've taken it out without the amas attached to the boat, but at 16'7" I know it's going to cruise. The cockpit is noticeably bigger. It feels super roomy compared to the 16. It feels more like the Outback in terms of deck space. The stability is amazing. I could stand up and walk around if I wanted to.

I'm waiting for my trampolines to arrive, I can't wait.

I wanted to see how the AI pedaled with both amas. I found out right away that it's hard to fish with them deployed on the side that I haul fish in from. The hull slap didn't really bother me. I'll probably  omit one ama on the next trip.

I can't wait to get more seat time in this thing. I have barely scratched the surface on what this boat is capable of handling. It's going to be fun dialing this thing in.

The fleet is growing fast! Need to start planning a regatta. Maybe a Christmas Parade down the Willy.

I could see it now.  AI's and TI's decked out with 1000+ Walmart LED Christmas lights each.

Hey Fishcat, I ordered the hawg trough through Amazon.
They used to stock them all over town. They were like $10.
I haven't found any for under $20 in a long time.
