I became interested in kayak fishing when a friend started doing it this past year. It appears to be a very versatile way to fish. I've been fishing for many years and own a 20 foot boat. Kayaking looks like a way to fish venues I can't take the boat to and opens up rivers to fishing more than from shore. I need to research much more to decide what the best kayak is for my needs.

Welcome!  There are a handful of guys that fish Edmonds on here... myself included.  I fish from a Hobie Outback.  I'd take it tide waters... probably not in any moving water.  I know some guys who run all types of rivers in their sit in's.  Good luck, see you on the water!

It's been 12 years living in Edmonds and it is a great place to live and fish from a kayak so welcome to you to the club of addicted kayak fish chasers.  Read and try as many kayaks as you can before making the investment.  Everyone has an opinion on what works best for them because everyone is different in age, size, type of fish to catch or hunt, with different techniques of fishing, and skill levels to paddle or peddle. NWKA is a great place to read what people prefer and to ask others what they like about the choices they decided.

Go to the Seattle Boat Show in January and there will be some kayak dealers and maybe a Heros on Water (HOW) booth where many of the NWKA members are volunteers that you can meet and ask question about what kayaks works best for them.  Good luck!
