Despite NOAA small craft advisory until 1100, went down to Tramp Harbor and launched at 0700, about 1-1.5foot chop and spitting rain.  Pedaled the Revolution out past KVI radio tower , dragging a small Deep6 diver with attached fishflash to a yellow Coyote spoon.  Promptly caught a couple small blackmouth smolts.  Went out into the deep, then a squall with 20-25 mph winds came along with drenching rain.  Chop built up to about 2 feet, closely spaced----amazing how well the Hobie Revo handles the slop, I trolled around for 2 hours, marking lots of fish but catching only shakers.  Sun finally came out for a bit around 8:30, but headed in to go  to work at 0900, a beaten man....just not many fish out there this year.
Nice part about fishing Tramp Harbor is the beach is less than 3 miles from home, I was a couple hundred yards out at 08:40 and home and booting up by 9:05!

Sure, but must check the WAF this eve, will let you know.  All this rain must be moving fish!

I will be out there right off the Lighthouse at Pt. Robinson at 6:00 am on Sat.

(not in the Hobie though, taking the big boat out)

Was out on the 9th for the PSA Gig Harbor Salmon derby - brought a couple of nice natives up to the boat, but too many fins to keep.

Liking those Sonic Edge spoons.

No, not this last week - tides did not look favorable over the weekend spent Sat & Sunday playing golf on the Peninsula.

Generally do not get out in the salt during the week - weekends only.  So far since June 1, have been out to Rob 6 times, Beals twice and laughed at everyone fishing Three Tree once (in 20+ years of fishing area 11 have never boated a decent fish at 3tree - bad juju there for me I guess - I stay away so it doesn't rub off on others.)

I know the hatchery mark rate is supposed to be better than 70% but I have brought more nates to the boat this year than ever.  So far, bonked three fish total for the season, 1 ho and two BM, largest of which was just over 10lbs.  Had a couple of mid-teener natives had to release a handful of nate blackies and lots and lots of shakers.

Maybe this weekend.......

LAst year I released more "natives" on the east side of Vashon than hatchery fish---2 over 20, 1 around 30---and I quit fishing there, the trauma  was too much.  There seems to be a much more favorable ratio of clipped to unclipped at Dalco and Pt Defiance than at Points Robinson, Beals and KVI.  But KVI is only 2.9 miles from my house on Maury Island, and Manzanita beach in Quartemaster less than 5, I need to find a good kayak launch for Dalco and I'm set....There's a good ramp at the north end for fishing Dolphin Point and Allen Bank.
Good luck at Point Rob on Sat!!!  What's your boat name on the Trophy???

No name on the boat - don't go there, I jokingly put "Mary Rose" on the back of it in electrical tape when we first got it in 2000 - (ex girlfriend from college and boy she was HOT) -  Wifey was NOT amused, would have got the frying pan upside the head if it weren't for my cat-like reflexes, she had to resort to throwing shoes at me as I ran around the boat peeling the tape off.....

Long story short - better to leave sleeping dogs lie, best not bring up the subject of naming the boat around the war dept.

Look for the reg:  WA0123NJ
