Merry Christmas!

I'm new to Alaska, and I'm trying to figure out saltwater fishing.  I had a great year fishing salmon and trout from shore and in waders, but I'd love to try something new.  I'm from Minnesota originally, so saltwater is a pretty foreign thing to me.  Hoping for some halibut and salmon this year.

I don't have a kayak yet, but I'm working my way into this.  Bought a Kokatat SuperNova Angler paddling drysuit, barely used, for a decent price.  And I got a nice life jacket for christmas this year.  So hopefully, it's only a matter of time.

I appreciate any expertise you all have!

Another Alaskan!!  Like!!!  Welcome!  What part of Alaska?

Lots of great opportunities, even in the winter time for the hardy and vigilant to the weather.

For south-central Alaska, I live in Anchorage but grew up in Kenai, you may want to take a gander at AlaskaKayakFisher.com, an amateurish website I put together.

For general information, you found the right forum.  I'm still relatively new at this only really starting in 2011, but I learned pretty much everything from the folks on this forum.  There are probably a dozen or more regulars from alaska on these forums so keep an eye on the Alaska section for folks going out.

Fishing is typically slow but kings can be had through the winter.  But if you don't have a kayak yet, don't fret.  The great fishing begins around mid April and continues into November for the saltwater.

Glad to see ya here, and don't be shy to ask questions.  This forum is very user friendly without a lot of the bickering for the most part you see on so many forums these days!  If you are in South-central Alaska, Let's fish!

I'm living in Anchorage now.  I've actually been learning from your website and youtube videos for the last couple months.  Thanks for all the work you've put into helping others to get into this sport!  I hope I'll see you out there at some point.
