You could put the loop or carbiner in between the clip and the float that way it wouldn't impeaded its release ??? Just a thought

OK.  So when the anchor is deployed, the float would be up against the stern attach point.  Then the carabiner.  When I release the attach point at the cockpit to free the anchor, the kayak drifts away, the carabiner slips off the rope, the clip that I just released sinks and the float is still at the attach point at the stern.  Doesn't sound like that works.  Let's keep brainstorming ... there has to be a better way!

What if you attached the float so it didn't slide and stayed at the end where you wanted it likerunning a loop with the float running on the loop and snap at the end.

here is a diagram of what I first thought. If you put the carbiner on broken side facing out then you can just roll it off and anchor and current pull should not be a problem.... in therory. Sorry for the cave man drawing. The loop in the bow/stearn line is tied in so it is a permanant loop in which the carbiner is attached to. That way you don't have to worry about fishing around for loose lines in the water. Just a thought.

This is what I meant with the float on the loop.

Wow!  So you drew that fast!!!

So how does the exact release work.  You said the bow/stern line is permanent so I'm assuming you need to manually unclip the carabiner.  But if I'm in a current and the carabiner slides to the bow, how do I reach it in order to unclip it?

I am sorry, I am confusing you. Those are two differnt methods. The first one with the kayak drawing is the one I thought of for myself. You tie a loop in the bow/stearn line, the loop is stationary and does not move because it is tied IN the line. From there the carbiner is attached to that loop with the open end facing out so you can open and roll the carbiner off.

The second one is the one I thought about from your pictures with two swievel snaps so your release end dosen't sink.
Hope that helps ;D

OK.  I understand the first picture.  So this is a fixed attach point.

I'm still confused with the second.  I scored highest on math.  And lowest on English.  All the spatial stuff was somewhere in betweem   ::)  Can you draw a full diagram?

I see.  But your still missing the part where I'd like the anchor line to slide up to the bow so that your attachpoint doesn't leave you sideways to a current.

My first try at posting a pic. if it works it should be my most used anchor, clip the beener to the boat and attach to whatever is available, kelp, brush or rocks.

What I finally decided for rear anchor attachment in place of a rudder.
