Keep in mind that the color on PowerPro will wear off with use and you'll have reels full of whitish braid. It's not a functional problem, just color.

It does wear off but I wouldn't say it goes white. It hasn't w/ my green power pro and I've put in a lot of hours on it. I'd call it green-ish.

Maybe it's the yellow that fades away completely. I have a reel, purchased recently, that has some PP that has seen a bit of salt and it is completely white.

i bought a bulk spool of the 30#mono off ebay a year ago and i cannot remember what brand it is ???..i cut it off and change it often enough that i dont worry too much about it...the flouro i have been using is the segaur's (sp)...the guide who took me fishing to catch the jacks down in PV told me about the flouro...we caught fish all day and he swore it was the reason, whatever...most of my salt fishing is done with downriggers or jigging so i dont cast too much except with my flyrod...8wf floating with sinking tip!...i wanna catch a ling on my flyrod!

Funny you should mention that. There's an article in this month's Northwest Sportsman Mag about a guy in Coos Bay who does just that. Check it out!

My first braid was Spyderwire. I put the 4lb dia/15lb test on my ultralight shimano for yellow perch fishing. It initially was green, but now has faded to a nice beige color. I like it better because I can see it slipping down in  the water, and watch for anything taking the bait as it sinks to the bottom. I love the braid on a spinning reel. No backlashes, and no memory! It's also gives the sensitivity that you need when fishing 70 feet deep for those light biting perch!

I only use mono for leaders now!
