After spending a few weekends learning how to steelhead fish and trying to hook my first one, I decided to take a break.  Drove to Tillamook jetty yesterday to fish before the upcoming week of rainy weather.  Hooked a few nice rockfish and a 21" lingcod.  Named him Lingy and released him unharmed, watched him swam off.  Fun fishing day.

Oh, for anyone planning on driving through highway 6 early in the morning towards Tillamook, be careful on the road.  It is still frosted and slippery.  Had a pickup truck swerve around and end up on the opposite lane (luckily there were no incoming traffic)

Haha yeah barview jetty is a little weird, the only time I find it fishable is 1.5 hours before to 1.5 hours after slack tide.  Any other time the rapid current will push anything you toss out to the side and into the rocks.

Nice catch!
I went there on Saturday, hoping to try my hand. But the wave was pretty bad. The ocean did not really want anyone near her at the time.

Yeah thanks everyone.  Barview Jetty is one of my favorite places to fish.  I usually go there every other weekend if weather permits and take out the kayak if I'm able too.  If anyone wants to join in shore fishing (until the water conditions are ideal for kayaking) PM me.  I'll try to let you know ahead of time on my next trip there.
