Tinker,  I live pretty close to suburbia and one would think with close proximity to stores that I have access to everything kayak in just a drive into town.  In reality, very few stores carry or have in stock what I am looking for (or at a reasonable price) and that pushes even myself to use the "Internet Shopping" button quite regularly.

In fact for my DragonFly install, here is what was purchased online for this project.
-The Dragonfly 5 Pro itself.
-Pelican 1120 case.
-12v 9ah SLA AGM battery (and a backup).
-LED light connectors (waterproof).
-Hobie thru hull kit.

The only thing I purchased locally was a Battery Tender Junior for charging the 12v SLA batteries with, and a fuse holder.

You have to admit that you have access to a better Goodwill store, 'though.  The stuff you find at Goodwill stuns me.
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Stuns me too.   But keep in mind, I go there very often sometimes twice a week.

Be aware of the fire hazard with Li batteries!!  A fire in your kayak 1/2 mile offshore would be a real life-changer

Battery guru's, If my Elite 5 DSI says it has a current drain of 630 maH does that mean I can get (7/.630 = 11.111111111111 ) 11 hours out of this 7aH battery? I need a new battery for my battery back-up for the internet/phone box in the garage and I thought hey, why not get the 2 pack. They are only 3.2 pounds and $15.50 each if I buy 2. http://www.amazon.com/ExpertPower-EXP1270-Rechargeable-Lead-Battery/dp/B003S1RQ2S/ref=pd_sim_sbs_23_7?ie=UTF8&dpID=41UZQatOF%2BL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0HGDKNH7NTM1JV2RMA6V

I may get 2 for the kayak, because 2 of these is lighter than one 12aH battery.

You should absolutely be able to get 8 hours out of that battery on the amount of draw.  I'd test it when you get it to be sure though.

Craig, I purchased two of these and got Free shipping.
They are 9Ah AGM SLA Deep cycle batteries.

I ran my Dragonfly 5pro on the deck with everything on maxed out for 9 hours (till I had to go to to bed) and the battery still had many hours of life left in it.   One of these days I will time a full run and see how long it really takes to get the unit to shut down.
The specs say 13.16 lbs on the site, but I don't think it's over 8lbs.  My 11lb anchor feels much heavier.

I think I will grab one of those. I checked my 12V 7.2aH Fios battery for the phone and router. It was at 13.36 V. I don't know why it keeps chirping and saying "Low battery."

Craig, I am using a Battery Minder trickle charger, like what is used to keep motorcycle batteries happy.

Craig I have 3 different chargers I use for my SLA 1 is a "battery tender only 2 amps and used to keep automotive batteries at charge for long periods of storage, B is a regular automotive charger with 3 settings from 2-6 amp , 3 is a RV battery charger out of an older RV before the days of 50 amps and complicated 12v chargers it is however a smart charger for its day.
